Thailand has been a dominant force in underwater archaeology in Southeast Asia. It is currently undertaking investigations of a shipwreck in Rang Kwien, off Cholburi Province on the southeastern Gulf of Thailand. The site yielded large quantities of ceramic wares of various types, metal ingots, elephant tusks among others. They
provided insights on the socio-cultural aspects of the lives of people in the later part of the 13th century.
